U.S. Figure Skating Championships 2022 - resultat

Chen (sølv), Bell (guld), Levito (bronze) og Izzo (pewter) på damernes podium.

De amerikanske nationale mesterskaber i kunstskøjteløb for sæson 2021/22 - U.S. Figure Skating Championships 2022 - blev afholdt den 3.-9. januar 2022 i Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Der blev konkurreret i alle fire discipliner på senior og junior niveau.

USA kan sende tre herrer, tre damer, to i parløb og tre i isdans til Vinter OL i Beijing.

Senior Herrer

Forsvarende mester Nathan Chen havde to fald i sit friløb, men han kunne stadig tage sin sjette nationale titel. To gange JGP-vinder Ilia Malinin overraskede med to rene programmer med i alt seks quads, og det blev belønnet med sølv. Vincent Zhou havde et flot kort program, men adskillige fejl i friløbet trak ham ned - han hang dog akkurat fast på bronze. Jason Brown faldt på sit eneste quad forsøg i friløbet, men ellers var hans triple spring rene, og han kunne tage en tæt 4. plads (pewter).

Senior Damer

25-årige Mariah Bell landede endelig en triple-triple i det korte program, og friløbet var solidt med nogle få usikre landinger. Det blev belønnet med hendes første nationale medalje. Karen Chen leverede også to solide programmer, også med nogle usikre landinger i det lange program. Chen tog sølv, mens JGP-vinder Isabeau Levito tog bronze i sin nationale seniordebut (hun er dog for ung til OL/VM). Favoritter Alysa Liu og Amber Glenn måtte trække sig pga. positiv covid-19 tests.

Senior Parløb

Cain-Gribble/Leduc tog deres anden titel efter to stærke programmer - eneste fejl var hendes double på salchow i friløbet. Både Calalang/Johnson og Lu/Mitrofanov havde solide korte programmer, men adskillige fejl i deres lange programmer betød, at de ikke kunne true guldet - de løb med henholdsvis sølv og bronze. De forsvarende mestre Knierim/Frazier måtte trække sig, da han testede positiv for covid-19.

Senior Isdans

Chock/Bates havde en superb rytmedans, og de tog deres en solid føring. Deres fridans var stærkt, men der var lidt usikkerhed på deres afsluttende løft - de gjorde dog nok til at tage deres tredje titel. De forsvarende mestre Hubbell/Donohue havde nogle småfejl i rytmedansen, men deres fridans var aftenens bedste. Samlet forblev de på sølv. Hawayek/Baker lå på en 4. plads efter hun kiksede sin twizzles i rytmedansen, men en stærk fridans trak dem op på bronze.
